Basketball practices will begin this week. We will have a combined 6-8 boys team and a 7-8 grade girls and a 6th grade girls They will have the following practice schedule: Boys: Tuesday 5:30-7:30, Thursday and Friday 3:30-5:30 7-8 Girls: Monday and Tuesday 3:30-5:30 and Thursday 5:30-7:30 6th Girls: Tuesday and Wednesday 3:30-5:30 and Thursday 5:30-7:30 Games are scheduled to begin the week following Thanksgiving. Practice schedules may adjust at that time.
The volleyball season began to wind down as both the 8th and 7th grade teams were eliminated from their respective tournaments on Saturday. The 8th graders lost their first game to Blessed Sacrament but then rebounded and played well in their match against St. Mary-Newton. The Seventh graders lost their first game to St. Joseph and then fell in a hard fought match against MagdalenThe sixth graders lost their first match on Saturday to St. Peter but rebounded with two set wins over Blessed Sacrament and S.E.A.S. They will play St. Mary of Derby on Monday night with a 6:00 start. If they win they will play again at 6:45. The tournament wraps up on Tuesday with championship game scheduled to begin at 6:15. The boys soccer team will have a busy week playing the Wichita Defenders Monday night at Holy Cross. The Eagles defeated the Defenders in their previous match by a score of 5-2. The game will begin at 4:30. So come out and watch the soccer team and then come into the gym and watch the volleyball games. The boys KCAA league soccer tournament will be hosted by Holy Cross and be held on Thursday and Friday. Their will be two games each night with 4:00 and 5:15 start times each day. Thursday, will be the opening round games with Friday have the Third Place game at 4:00 and championship at 5:15. Pictures from 6th Grade Tournament
Volleyball regular season ended Saturday with all teams showing lots of grit and determination in their final matches. The sixth grade team went 2-0 with two game victories over All Saints and St. Margaret Mary. They finished the season with an 8-2 record and will be the third place seed in the tournament which will begin Thursday and be held at Holy Cross. The seventh graders defeated All Saints in their final match. They finished their season 6-4 and were in a three way tie for third in the league. Their tournament will also begin Thursday and will be hosted by Blessed Sacrament. The eighth graders had two tough losses to Resurrection and Magdalen. They fought the undefeated Magdalen Mustangs to a 28-26 game in their second match of the day. The eighth grade team finished with a record of 3-7 and will be the 15 seed in their tournament which will be played at St. Francis. It also will begin on Thursday. Soccer has two regular season games remaining. They will play Classical on Thursday at Stryker. The game will begin at 4:30. We will have a 30 minute b-team scrimmage following the regular game. They will finish out the regular schedule with a game vs. the Wichita Defenders here at Holy Cross on Monday October 17.
It was a much better Saturday for the volleyball teams. The 8th and 7th grade teams went 1-1 and the 6th graders went 2-0 in their matches. The sixth graders went three games in their matches with St. Catherine and St. Francis. The seventh grade defeated Blessed Sacrament but fell to Collegiate. Eighth Grade lost to St. Mary of Derby but rebounded to defeat St. Mary of Newton in the second match. Next Saturday will be last of the regular season. Eighth Grade will be at Blessed Sacrament playing Resurrection at 10:45 and Magdalen at 12:15. The Seventh Grade will have a single match against All Saints scheduled to begin at 12:15 down in Derby at St. Mary. Sixth Grade will have matches against St. Margaret Mary at 11:30 and 12:15 played at St. Francis.
