Sports Banquet Tuesday and Spring Sports Season Come to a Close

This past week saw an end to the spring sports seasons. The girl’s soccer team finished up with a third place win over WAHAA ¬†Warriors 1-0. The team finished the season with a 4-4-2 and greatly improved through out the season.

The track team finished its season with a very successful Kansas City Lutheran Track meet held Saturday at Center High School in Kansas City. A complete list of those who placed will be published once the results have been received.

This Tuesday we will recognize and honor all of our athletes from the past school year and the Booster Club Sports Banquet. The banquet will be held in the Fellowship Hall and begin with a catered meal beginning at 5:45. Each team will be introduced and coaches will recap the season. We also will hand out MS letters to our 8th grade athletes and announce the winner of the Les Longhouser Christian Athlete Award. I hope all our athletes and their families will be able to attend.

The year has gone by quickly and this week soccer season will come to a close and we also are down to two weeks of track remaining. Last week was a good one for the soccer team as they had two good games playing the Wichita Warriors to a 1-1 and defeating Sunrise Christian 1-0. This week they will have their final regular season game Monday once again with the Warriors. It will be at Holy Cross and begin at 4:30. Friday will be the league post-season tournament. It will be held at the A.Y,S.O. fields and be all played on Friday. The first game will begin at 2:00 and the second at 3:30. Who they will play will not be known until mid-week. With that schedule of games, the team will practice Tuesday and Thursday 3:45-5:30.

Track will have the league championship meet this Saturday at the Bishop Carroll track. The meet will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Practices this week will be Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:45-5:30. In addition to the Middle School track team the Fourth and Fifth graders are now practicing with the team as they prepare for the Kansas City Lutheran Track Meet. That meet will be May 14 at Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
